Amos - 7/28/2004

Amos 53-03 Amos 53-03 Amos 53-03

We said goodbye to our Amos boy on July 28th. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge so peacefully, as I cradled his head in my arms and told him how much we loved him. We'd only had him ten months, but there's a huge hole in our house and our hearts without him. I know he's being best friends with all my others that have gone before him, and someday we'll see him again. Until then, thank you Amos for letting us love you.

This is Buddy's life. He had it made. He lived in the perfect family. We adopted Buddy on December 21, 2003. You had him going by the name of Thunder, and it didn't fit him. We went back to his first name of Buddy, but those of us that new him called him Mr. Aloysius. He had attitude, he had confidence, he had so much love, he knew his home. He was instantly made a part of the family, and how many dogs do you know that can say he had two of his own personal play toys. He loved these kids. We didn't own him, he owned us. I would have to say that there wasn't a person that he came into contact with that he didn't love. We had the pleasure of taking Buddy everywhere with us. We would bring his bed and set him up in the back of our SUV. He enjoyed hiking with his family, and romps to the dog park. He just wanted to be wherever we were. He was the perfect fit. The perfect addition to this family. Thank you for blessing us with him. Unfortunately, this afternoon, Buddy's perfect life ended. His kids were in the front yard playing with neighborhood kids, Erik was on the roof of the house hanging the Christmas lights, and I was not home. Buddy got out of the house and went to play with his kids, this required him to cross the street, and as dogs are prone to do, he didn't look both ways, he just wanted to play. An older model Ford Bronco II was speeding down our street, sadly this isn't a one time event, and struck Buddy. Everyone saw it happen, and as Erik ran to help Buddy the driver of the car sped quickly away. There was nothing anyone could do at this point. He had died instantly. I was home within fifteen minutes, and all I could do was console the kids. The neighborhood is sad, and we are devastated. Our family member has been killed. We can do nothing but cry. Even now through the grief, I know that he loved us. That we each can say it was a blessing to have him as a part of this family. He was the best dog we could have ever asked for, and we hate to have lost him. Thank you Golden Retriever Freedom Rescue for allowing us the blessing of Buddy.
